The Toronto Patty Fest will make its debut in Little Jamaica this weekend. The event will be dedicated to the beloved savory pastry and the diverse cultures that have brought it to this city.
According to the festival’s main organizers, vendors from various cultural backgrounds will participate, each serving their iconic versions of the patty reflecting their heritage.
For example, GABEE’S restaurant will offer dishes originating from Haiti, while Le Bercail will have a fusion of West African flavors with the patty and empanada.
Spike Your Food will lead the way with a Jamaican-inspired approach, offering traditional menu options such as beef stew, saltfish, and jerk chicken.
With such diversity, the festival will carry the rich cultural essence of Caribbean patty, providing attendees with an opportunity to experience something new.
As the first event of its kind not only in Canada but also in the world, the Patty Festival will be a vibrant addition to Little Jamaica’s summer program and has the potential to become an important annual community event.
Taking place from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, the event will be held at the Green P parking lot on Eglinton Ave. West, just east of Oakwood Avenue.
